The 1st ASEAN+3 Field Epidemiology Mentorship Forum
📣 The 1st ASEAN+3 Field Epidemiology Mentorship Forum was successfully held virtually on 11 November 2025.
🌐 Co-led by Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, and Thailand, and coordinated by the ASEAN+3 FETN Secretariat, this inaugural event brought together over 80 participants from across the ASEAN+3 region and key partners, including WHO WPRO, UKHSA, ABVC, and the U.S. CDC.
🧭 Activity Highlights:
🔹 Shared Learning: Real outbreak experiences were transformed into learning opportunities through detailed case studies, featuring insights from both mentors and mentees.
🔹 Core Competencies: Discussions emphasized that mentorship is essential for strengthening technical skills, communication, leadership, and decision-making during outbreak responses.
🔹 Workforce Resilience: Participants reaffirmed that teamwork, clear communication, and critical thinking are core mentor qualities central to building a resilient epidemiology workforce and ensuring regional health security.
🤝 This forum marks a significant step in fostering collaborative growth and expertise-sharing among field epidemiologists in the region.
